An exhibition by sixteen artists in response to the 1916 Easter Rising

Participating Artists: Leo Boyd, Janine Davidson, Helen Lavery, Jessie Malone, Des MacMahon, Josephine McCormick, Eamonn McCrory, Shane O’Driscoll, Pauline O’Farrell, Suzannah O’Reilly, Kate O’Shea, Fiona Quill, Jim Sheehy, Dorothy Smith, Sylvia Taylor & The Project Twins.

2016 marks the centenary of the 1916 Easter Rising and is a celebration of one of the most tumultuous rebellions in Irish history. Curated by Jessie Malone in association with Cork Printmakers, four artists from each of the following workshops; Belfast Print Workshop, Black Church Print Workshop, Dublin, Cork Printmakers & Limerick Printmakers have collaborated in the creation of 16, a unique box-set and exhibition of prints, Jessie Malone curated the selection of four artists from each Print Studio and the artist was then invited to make one image, in response to the theme of the 1916 Easter Rising, to an edition of twenty, on paper measuring sixteen inches square. This exhibition forms a unique record of Irish contemporary art in the medium of printmaking and showcases the high standard of skills and variety of techniques being utilised currently in Ireland.

16 will  be exhibited at the following venues;

  • The Belltable, 69 O’Connell Street, Limerick: 2nd May – 17th May 2016
  • Black Church Print Studio, 4 Temple Bar, Dublin 2: 12th May – 7th June 2016
  • Belfast Room in The Ulster Museum, Botanic Gardens, Belfast, County Antrim BT9 5AB, UK: 2nd June – 2nd July 2016
